I’m no stranger to the East of England Co-op, as I previously worked for the Society for 14 years. During this time, I successfully gained a succession of managerial promotions, which eventually led to my position as Head of Marketing for the overall Society. I’ve also been a loyal Member of the Co-op for many years and shop every week at my local store, mainly to buy the fresh produce and the locally sourced products. I set about to continue my career in retail when I launched my boutique in 2012.
During the past weeks, the official nomination and voting process took place. Co-op Members were able to cast their votes amongst 16 candidates who stood for election. There were 4 positions to fill and I’m of course thankful to those who kindly voted for me to secure my place on the Board. The result was announced at the Annual Members Meeting on 18th May 2019. My position will be to contribute as one of 16 directors, to oversee governance, policy and strategy decisions.
The day-to-day management of the East of England Co-op is in the hands of the Leadership Team. A team of Joint Chief Executives, each is an expert in their field who together collaborate to run the largest independent retailer in our region.
To date I’ve become a well-known, established local businesswoman and possess the key experience, spanning over 30 years within the retail and marketing industries. I’ve successfully pioneered a number of initiatives in the past and whilst running my business. I look forward to making my contribution to the Co-op Board and teaming up with the other Directors.
